We are very proud to announce the release of The Hip Chick’s Guide to Macrobiotics in audiobook form. Why are we so proud? Because we were lucky enough to have one of the preeminent authors, instructors and experts on macrobiotics in the world as our voice and instructor--Jessica Porter.

The best-selling print version is now a sparkling audiobook, featuring the wit, wisdom and personal presence of its author--Jessica Porter. Here’s the skinny on our talented, charming, and unusually healthy author/narrator:

“Porter’s dry wit and in-your-face narrative cuts to the very heart of [macrobiotic] philosophy.
May this be a macrobiotic manifesto for a new generation of empowered hipsters.”
--Lee Gross, macrobiotic chef to Gwyneth Paltrow

“Informative—and a great laugh!”
--Mayumi Nishimura, macrobiotic chef to Madonna

“What a blast! I laughed a lot and learned a lot, too.”
--Christina Pirello, author of Cooking the Whole Foods Way and Christina Cooks

ABOUT THE AUTHOR/NARRATOR:
Jessica Porter is a macrobiotic chef, cooking instructor and hypnotherapist. She completed her macrobiotic training at the Kushi Institute in Becket, Massachusetts. Jessica served as personal macrobiotic chef to Pink Floyd's Roger Waters for eight months. She hosts a weekly radio show in Portland, Maine; has written and appeared in her own one-woman show, Zen Comedy; and has been featured in Simon Doonan’s recent book, Wacky Chicks: Life Lessons from Fearlessly Inappropriate and Fashionably Eccentric Women.

“There is no right or wrong way to approach this book. One of the things I love about macrobiotics is that there is a food component and a philosophy component—theory and practice tucked side by side on your fork. You can start with your brain or with your belly. You may want to jump straight to a de-sludging diet tomorrow or just read some of the philosophy over brown rice and see what happens next. I believe that if you are intrigued at all by either the cooking or the theory, then your intuition will guide you like a benevolent dominatrix.”

--Jessica Porter, Hip Chick
